Covid-19
Are we prepared for the third wave?”

About the event

The second wave of Covid-19 hit India hard, and concerns are now growing about the next one. While cases have
come down from April, the dip has slowed down and there is a slight uptick in the infection rate. Several studies suggest that a third wave of the pandemic may hit India between August and October, and the next 2-3 months will be crucial.

To vaccinate 60% of the adult population by December, India needs to administer 8.8 million doses a day. Last week, the average number was just 3.8 million doses a day. Meanwhile, most restrictions have been lifted in large parts of the country, and people are travelling, shopping and moving around, often without masks and social distancing.

So, are we really ready for the third wave of Covid-19?

In this Let’s Talk Policy session, we discussed about this with experts, including Dr. Joyeeta Basu, Co-Founder & Director, Doctors Hub, Dr. Polly Roy, Chair of Virology, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and Dr. M.V. Padma Srivastava, HoD, Neurology, AIIMS, News Delhi.

The event was moderated by renowned journalist, Nidhi Razdan.

‘Let’s Talk Policy’ is a panel discussion series initiated by Kautilya School of Public Policy,, that brings forth a select group of panellists, sharing differing views on key issues of national and global relevance, and building the dialogue into a conversation for the student community.

The series aims to unravel major themes around democracy, politics, and human rights, and explore the challenges and rewards of implementing practices. We aim to create a cohesive platform and call on thematic experts to foster a healthy dialogue around the most-pressing issues.
