About:

Dr. Ali Adil is an interdisciplinary urban energy scholar and experiential educator. Dr. Adil’s research focuses on interdisciplinary subjects ranging from energy, climate resilience to community development and public policy. He is interested in identifying and examining innovative strategies and approaches towards clean energy and a climate-resilient future for all. Dr. Adil draws on action-oriented research methods to grasp the material and social realities confronting ongoing socio-technical transitions that necessarily involve diverse stakeholders. He has previously worked across public, private, and non-governmental domains, with renowned organizations like ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability and National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).

Dr. Adil embraces a social-constructivist approach towards teaching and mentorship and conceives his interactions with students as excursions in creating new imaginaries, incorporating existing knowledge of our world with the creativity and intellectual novelty that students carry into the classrooms. He holds a doctoral degree in Urban Planning and Public Policy from the University of Texas at Arlington, U.S., a Master’s Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Management from the University of Glasgow, UK, and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Osmania University, India.
