India is all set to overtake the U.S. to become the world’s second-largest economy by 2075. The future of government is knocking on the door – it may be a little early, but with visible policy-making and speedy service innovations as public policy initiatives revolving around regulations, optimized financial allocations, governing laws & rules, monitoring mechanisms, and impact-driven directions. The modernization of the government has to be a little polarised towards the visibility of heightened response mechanisms to foster trust and mutual understanding to achieve public management objectives.

A vital trend has been observed in the past decade globally. Speedy and pocketed use of technology juiced up with measurable use of data and a futuristic approach, has become an integral part of the modern or to-be current government for an impact-oriented public policy initiative for a better tomorrow and beyond boundaries. One of the key initiatives for the next 50 years is to extend financial stability and independence to the state government with subsidized funding, such as POLICY SUPPORT, to meet ever-increasing global demand for financial and non-financial infrastructure and to develop collaborative partnerships to attract Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs).

Engaging regularly with citizens of the country, the producers, the enablers, the innovators, and business entrepreneurs has helped policymakers a lot in formulating the correct dose of impact for the good days ahead with great possibilities for each section of the community. The modern government should be ready to understand the priorities and roadblocks to growth better, and its policymaker’s prime agenda should be to create programs that can act as catalysts to economic stability.

India has emerged as the 3rd largest ecosystem for startups globally with over 99,000 DPIIT-recognized startups across 670 districts of the country as of 31st May 2023. Of these, approx. 20% are tech startups. With the Make in India and Made In India approach, the modern government is focused on increasing the capital flow in the Indian market, which strengthens the economy with connected infrastructure and reduced dependability upon foreign goods and services.

An inclusive approach to public policy is vital for any government to address the needs of underrepresented communities, a must to achieve inclusive growth. Whether it’s the Elite Theory of public policy, the concept of rational choice, or an institutional perspective, the modern government must accept that the developmental processes that are inclusive by nature result in much-appreciated outcomes of any public matter initiatives.

It’s challenging to define a time frame to bring the desired impact in society using public policy initiatives, and policymakers always have a limited time to get that change. So, the modern government’s one of the essential tools is “PACE,” the speed of political turnaround to provide ample opportunity with improved infrastructure to meet the desired objectives. Fast-track financial independence, quick turnaround of logistical requirements, and speedy process of law and regulations are always suggested by policymakers. Modern governments have a great opportunity to eradicate bottlenecks that limit participation.

A good public policy can be more than just an institutional program. This is a pivotal moment for government and policymakers. Every policy approved to be implemented should go through impact assessments to gauge social, environmental, and economic effectiveness at the community, country, and global levels. From breaking the binary, decoding the untold story, and visualizing the unseen impact, it’s a historic opportunity for the new age government or modern government to harness impact-oriented public policy initiatives to stimulate societal recovery.

To thrive in a fast-changing world, modern governments and agencies should continuously respond to ever-evolving people’s needs with improved versions of public service processes and efficiency. The contemporary government should frame public policies with a clear understanding of the people, by the people, and for the people, and keep monitoring the existing policies and framework.

The modern government should keep engaging key stakeholders, improving working capacity, enabling domestic and international infrastructure, and prospecting to attract capital investors. The key success factors are inclusive participation, enhanced credibility, better transparency, worry-free security, clear accountability, improved cost efficiency, greater flexibility, and implementation practicality.

TAKE AWAY:

Higher Involvement, Heightened Responses. In the era of forward-looking modern government. Speed to execution, engaging for inclusive growth, and being innovative for a long-lasting impact to inspire future generations are key success mantras. The future-ready modern government is here and is spotlighting the innovation culture, struggle framework to carve an effective execution, and is ready to look beyond boundaries to adopt best practices from peer governments and agencies to improve their own public policy making.

THE MODERN GOVERNMENT SHOULD BE REVOLUTIONARY IN NATURE.
